'Interactivity' Digital Media . Tv- 'The new internet?'
Interactivity is now widespread across all forms of media allowing faster more efficient methods of communication. With digital tv set to be the only form of television, interactive services are becoming more involved in our viewing. It appears the new generations desire more control in television entertainment as digital emerges. Sky Interactive is a prime example allowing viewers to interact in several ways. In Health and lifestyle viewers who may be parents can actually message a midwife through Sky television for any tips and advice they require. Viewers can shop for thousands of products and holidays, they are able to gamble , participate in live game shows and competitions, play games and much more through Sky Interactive. This can also be applied to gaming on 'Xbox Live' where gamers can play eachother whilst speaking to eachother on a headset by connecting their console to the internet.Xbox Live also contains chatrooms forums and many other forms allowing interaction. Furthermore, it appears naive to only primarily link the internet to interactivity when in fact many forms of media and technology are containing interactive functions through different mediums like digital.

ReplyDeleteThis is a start Daniel but rather a slow one and I'm concerned that you are getting behind. Your comments show insight, reflection and some "thinking outside the box". However you need to be doing mcub more than this - 3 posts per week at least, in addition to commenting on others' blogs. You've got some intersting things to say, but your colleagues can't see that and I can't mark you on what isn't here!
ReplyDeleteDo you think that the internet is the sole reason for this increase in 'interaction' or do you think it is the media in general that has encouraged an interaction with its consumers? Has digital tv emerged as an alternative to the internet?
ReplyDeleteRincy..
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion, i think that the internet is a huge reason for much of this interaction with its consumers. Because most new medias, such as Sky interactive and Xbox being online etc, were strongly encouraged after such a huge phenomena in the relationship between interaction and consumer came from the internet.
In response to Matts question i think its both the internet and the media contributing in the current appeal and increase in interaction. Whilst the internet has encouraged various forms of interaction the media has influenced its emergence by giving it a positive and beneficial outlook.
